The Transporter’s exterior is built for easy loading with three foldable roof rails, each rated to 170kg. Tailgate or wing doors are available at the rear, and a left sliding door comes standard, with the option to add a right-side door with power latching or electric sliding. You can add windows as needed, and upgrade the standard plastic floor to a wood finish.

The Transporter is built with safety at its core. Features like Front Assist with City Emergency Braking help reduce rear-end collisions and can detect pedestrians at speeds of up to 30km/h. Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert supports safer driving in busy metro areas, while Multi-Collision Braking gives you added confidence in challenging conditions.⁷

Ready to stop at a moment’s notice The Transporter van is built with a variety of safety features to help keep you safe in all kinds of places.

Side Assist Side Assist uses LED lights in the side mirrors to let you know if there are any cars in your blind spots. Once you indicate to change lanes, the system will flash if there’s a potential hazard – and can even apply corrective steering using Lane Assist to help avoid a collision. Traffic sign recognition Front-mounted cameras identify traffic signs and display the information clearly on your dashboard. Front Assist with City Emergency Brakes Front Assist combines multiple features to help you avoid or minimise collisions. It includes emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assist, advanced turn assist and evasive support. Using radar sensors, the system detects vehicles ahead, warns the driver and prepares to brake. If there’s no response, it applies the brakes automatically. At speeds below 30 km/h, City Emergency Brake can intervene earlier if a collision appears likely. Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert Perfect for city driving, the blind spot monitor detects cars and motorcycles alongside the van and signals with a LED indicator in the side mirror. Rear traffic alert warns of vehicles approaching from behind while reversing, with both an audible alert and a visual message via the Optical Parking System (OPS). Multi-collision brakes This system is designed to assist immediately after an accident. When the airbags detect a collision, the multi-collision brake activates to slow the vehicle and help prevent a secondary impact. During braking, hazard lights and brake lights remain illuminated. The driver can take back control at any time.

Adaptive cruise control Adaptive cruise control (ACC) takes the pressure off longer drives. Once you set your speed, the system monitors traffic ahead and adjusts to maintain a safe following distance. In stop-start conditions, it can bring the vehicle to a complete halt and then pull away again when the road clears.

High beam Light Assist When you’re driving at night, high beam light assist helps you see further without dazzling oncoming traffic. The system detects vehicles ahead and automatically switches between high and low beams – keeping the road ahead clear and well lit.

Rear view camera Reversing’s easier when you can see what’s behind you. The rear view camera gives you a clear video feed of the space behind the van – helping you back into tight spots with greater confidence. It’s especially useful for protecting rear-mounted gear like towbars or storage racks.

Exterior and interior lighting From after-hours work to tight job site access, visibility matters. The Transporter comes with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED interior lighting to keep everything clear as day. Electrically folding exterior mirrors help protect the van when parked and give you a better view when pulling out.

Is there a Volkswagen Transporter hybrid?

A plug-in hybrid model is coming in 2026. It’ll combine electric efficiency with the everyday flexibility Transporter drivers rely on.

Is the Transporter fuel efficient?

The diesel Transporter delivers fuel efficiency⁹ of 7.4 L/100 km, helping you go further between fills without compromising on performance.

How many seats is the Transporter?

The Transporter Van comes with 3, standard – but you can customise it to suit the way you work. Downsize to 2 for even more cabin space. The Transporter Crewvan will come with 5 seats as standard, with the Dual Cab seating 6.

How powerful is the e-Transporter?

It uses a 210 kW rear-wheel drive electric motor and has 415 Nm of torque, giving you strong acceleration and smooth, quiet performance even when carrying a load.

How long does the e-Transporter take to charge?

With DC fast charging, you can go from 10–80% in around 38 minutes. You can also charge at home or on standard AC chargers where available when you’re parked.

Does the e-Transporter have the same load volume as the diesel Transporter?

Yes. The e-Transporter keeps the same load area dimensions, door options and practical storage layout as the diesel Transporter, so you can carry tools, equipment and cargo without compromise.

Can I still tow with the e-Transporter?

Yes. The e-Transporter supports towing, with capacity dependent on final market specification. Check with your Volkswagen dealer for the exact limits for your configuration.

What is Transporter Lite?

The Transporter Lite is an entry-level, short-wheelbase, front-wheel drive variant of the Transporter, designed to deliver the reliable performance of the MY25 Transporter with a reduced level of standard equipment. It is powered by a 2.0L turbo diesel engine producing 125 kW and 390 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offered in a limited number of vehicles in Australia (once vehicle allocations are exhausted, vehicle cannot be ordered). Please note, the Transporter Lite does not include air conditioning, rubber flooring, or a fixed partition window. A genuine Volkswagen air conditioning system cannot be retrofitted to this vehicle. Installation of third-party air conditioning systems may void or reduce Volkswagen warranty or Australian Consumer Law coverage if they cause or contribute to an issue that would otherwise be covered.
